XFSDK Hybrid SDF GI

Standalone plugin planned (TBD). Hybrid SDF GI currently exists within XFSDK Core and XFSDK Light. This page describes the planned separately distributed product, not an available standalone release.

The existing technique uses Unreal's global distance field, placed probe volumes, a surfel cache, and an optional final gather. Standalone GI and Core use x_ CVars, while Light uses xl_ for the same shared GI settings. See the canonical GI reference (Core/standalone x_ CVars), XFSDK Light setup (xl_ CVars), and XFSDK Core overview for the shared technology. Requirements for the standalone package have not been established.

Runtime API

The standalone plugin exposes the shared GI mode-selection API through its runtime module. It can enable Hybrid SDF GI, switch to Unreal Engine Lumen Lite, disable dynamic GI, and query the active mode.

See Runtime GI API for the complete Blueprint and C++ function reference.

For standalone C++ projects, use:

  • Module: XFSDK_GI_Runtime
  • Header: XFSDK_GI_Runtime_API.h
  • Class: UXFSDK_GI_API
  • Mode enum: EXFSDK_GI_Mode

The public function names and behavior are the same as XFSDK Core and XFSDK Light.
